After the first firing follows glazing. Immersing or
sprying with a spraying pistol applies the glaze, consisting
of kaolin, quartz and feldspat.
During the glaze firing
at 1080°C, the glaze fuses with the ceramic shell
of the figurine. The initially blue glaze becomes white
during the firing (for controll purposes). All colour
pigments are burned out.
Now the figurine ca be painted.
To give life to the
pale, white figurines, the skilled painters use hand-made
brushes with the finest hair and bristles.
