First the faces of the M.I.Hummel figurines are painted. The eyes are drawn with a pen, the mouth and eyebrows with the finest brushes.

After that, the skin colour, blush and an ivory colour are applied with an air-brush.

To make the painting permanent, the figurine has to be fired again.
At 640°C, the decoration firing permanently melts the colours into the glaze.
